I don't think Hantz is teaching anyone about growing food. They are becoming the largest private land owner in Detroit, and intend to use that to grow food. Ironically, the departure of the chain grocery stores is helping a revival of locally owned Mom-and-Pop type grocery stores. Thanks for the comment. -eric

I appreciate that your share the overall vision for a vibrant, nation-leading Detroit that many of us on the ground here have been promoting.

But I also have to ask what your source is for the notion that Hantz Farm is teaching residents how to grow their own food? There is extensive work happening in the city on food production education, but I haven't heard about Hantz Farm being involved in that at all. Some locals are concerned about Hantz Farm's plan for urban agriculture in the city, and prefer the large-scale effects of decentralized farming. But independent of that, I just want to check your source so that a) I can learn if there's something you know which I don't; and b) to correct your information and give credit where it's due.

The Garden Resource Program, which is a collaborative effort among several strong urban ag. groups in Detroit has led the charge on resident education for years and is really the reason why Detroit's becoming known as an urban agriculture leader.

Thanks!
